Sponsor an Elder

Dignity and care for the grandmothers and grandfathers who raised generations.

“They embraced every child that turned to them for love and care, even as they struggled with their own personal challenges. It is time we embrace them.”

— Carolyne Daisy, CEO Daisy Centre & School Bukura

THE PROGRAM

How sponsoring an elder works

Simple, personal, and lasting. You choose an elder, make a startup gift to get them situated, then commit to monthly food support. The Lifting Lives team manages every dollar on the ground.

1

Join the Community

Email info@liftinglivesinkenya.org to begin. You’ll join a community of supporters standing with the elders of Bukura each assessed by the Lifting Lives team

2

Give Your Startup Gift

A one-time $100 gift gets your elder situated with bedding and essential household supplies they currently lack.

3

Feed Them Monthly

Your $50 monthly gift provides consistent, nutritious daily meals, including maize, beans, vegetables, and staples.

Jared lost his wife years ago and has relied on his son, a casual laborer with an unstable income, for whatever support he can manage. Jared has a serious condition with his leg that requires crutches and, for years, has required surgery he has never been able to afford. He manages each day with real physical difficulty and genuine courage. He lacks consistent food, medical care, and daily assistance.

Jared, 73 years old

At 99 years old, Jescah has lived nearly a full century, and she is living it largely on her own. She is under the care of a daughter-in-law, but that family has no stable income of its own, so support is inconsistent. Most days, Jescah’s survival depends on whoever happens to notice. She is remarkable in her quiet endurance. After a lifetime of giving and surviving, she deserves nourishment, warmth, and the simple comfort of knowing she will have food each day

Everlyne lost her husband years ago and, with him, the steady support she had built her life around. She now lives with her three daughters, all of whom have tried and so far been unable to find stable work. They love her, and they do what they can, but the household has no dependable income. Some days food is scarce, healthcare is out of reach, and survival comes down to resilience rather than resources.

Everlyne, 80 years old

Jotham and Tabitha have been married for a lifetime, and they need each other now more than ever. Tabitha has been bedridden for months after a fall left her with a broken leg, and she is also living with diabetes, asthma, and arthritis. Jotham is elderly and frail himself, but he is doing his best to care for her while managing his own health. They live with their granddaughter, who is a young mother without a stable income. Together, this household needs consistent food and medication.
