For children to be able to reach their highest level of potential, they must first have basic human needs met which include daily nutrition, responsive medical care, and a feeling of personal safety. Access to quality education is fundamental to improving the lives of disenfranchised children.
Founded in 1991 as the International Cultural Exchange Fund (ICEF) by Macoy McMurray for the purpose of "doing the most good we can, for as many as we can, as often as we can." Today as our story and work has evolved as we continue to do good by Lifting Lives in Bukuru, Kenya.
Beginning in 2012, ICEF assisted in developing the Daisy Academy, a school campus in the rural area of Bukura, Kenya. Carolyne Ashiono, a gifted educator and administrator, is the school director.
